During his visit to Africa encompassing three countries, UK Foreign Secretary James Cleverly unveiled a substantial aid package of $73 million aimed at bolstering food security in Nigeria. This announcement comes as part of the UK’s commitment to supporting sustainable development in the region.
The aid package is projected to have a positive impact on more than four million individuals by facilitating the adoption of improved farming techniques and the reduction of harmful carbon emissions. In an official statement, Cleverly emphasized the significance of this initiative for both nations.
“Nigeria, boasting a burgeoning population and holding the position of Africa’s largest economy, holds immense potential for an even stronger partnership between UK and Nigerian businesses,” remarked Cleverly. “Such collaboration will undoubtedly yield mutual benefits, contributing to the progress and prosperity of both countries.”
