The two British tourists who are still missing after a tragic yacht sinking in the Red Sea have been named as Jenny Cawson, 36, and Tarig Sinada, 49, an adventure-loving engaged couple from Devon. The pair, both experienced scuba diving instructors, were among the passengers on the Sea Story, a 144ft vessel that capsized in the early hours of Monday near Dolphin Reef off the Egyptian coast.
Cawson and Sinada were enjoying a reef safari holiday when the boat was struck by a huge wave at around 5:30 a.m. Egyptian authorities have confirmed that the couple are among seven passengers who are still unaccounted for, feared drowned. They were part of a larger group of tourists, many of whom were also diving enthusiasts, known for their love of outdoor adventure, including activities such as snowboarding and mountain climbing.
The Sea Story sank quickly after being hit by the wave, and though 33 people were rescued, four people were found dead. Five more survivors were discovered after enduring over 30 hours trapped in a small air pocket beneath the wreckage, struggling to stay alive in freezing, pitch-black water.
The couple’s disappearance has deeply affected their family and friends, who describe them as passionate about exploring the world. As the search continues, authorities are working to recover the remaining missing passengers, including Cawson and Sinada, as hopes for their survival dwindle.
