“This is the moment to defend your values,” said Palestinian Ambassador to the UK Husam Zomlot on Wednesday regarding the attacks on Gaza.
Zomlot called on the international community to not remain silent against Israeli war crimes in the Gaza Strip. Zomlot criticized Western media for its coverage of Gaza while speaking to reporters after an event in the House of Commons. He said that many of the outlets are parroting false stories on the situation in the besieged enclave.
“We call on the media to be honest, and to stick to their profession, which is a profession that seeks to convey the truth … not to try and blame the victims, but to reflect what is happening on the ground.” Israel has been bombarding Gaza relentlessly, killing at least 12,000 Palestinians, more than half of which are women and children.
The official Israeli death toll, meanwhile, stands at 1,200, though it was 1,400 in October. The UN Security Council passed a resolution on Wednesday calling for the immediate release of all hostages held by Hamas as well as urgent and extended humanitarian corridors throughout the enclave to save and protect civilian lives.
