Egyptian authorities have confirmed that rescuers have located survivors after a tourist boat sank in the Red Sea. The boat, named Sea Story, was carrying 45 people, including 31 tourists and 14 crew members, when it sank while en route to a diving trip.
The distress signal was received at 05:30 local time (03:30 GMT) on Saturday, reporting that the 44-meter-long vessel had gone down near the Wadi el-Gemal area, south of Marsa Alam. Authorities, led by Maj-Gen Amr Hanafi, stated that some survivors have been transported by aircraft to receive medical care, while others are awaiting rescue by an Egyptian warship.
Air and naval rescue units continue to search for any remaining missing passengers. The cause of the sinking has not yet been confirmed.
