Russian state nuclear corporation Rosatom officially opened its office in Cairo, Egypt, on Wednesday, marking a pivotal moment in its commitment to bolstering collaboration with the North African nation. The establishment of the office signifies a new era for cooperation, encompassing both nuclear and non-nuclear sectors, including medical equipment and nuclear medicine, digital solutions, infrastructure projects, and more.
Murad Aslanov, Director of Rosatom’s country office in Egypt, stated in a release, “The opening of Rosatom’s office in Egypt is a logical continuation of the longstanding relationship between the two nations, which have enjoyed strong diplomatic and economic ties for decades. It also marks a new chapter of cooperation, particularly in the field of nuclear and non-nuclear energy, strengthening our partnership and fostering knowledge exchange in various sectors.”
The inauguration ceremony was attended by key figures such as Mohamed Ramadan Badawy, Vice Board Chairman for Operation and Maintenance at the Egyptian Nuclear Power Plants Authority; Mohamed Dwiddar, Project Manager of El-Dabaa NPP Construction Project; and Alexey Kononenko, ASE JSC Vice-President – Director for NPP Construction Project. Other attendees included Ahmed Elatik, Head of the Representative Office of JSC (ASE) in Cairo; Alexey Tevanian, Trade Representative of the Russian Federation in Egypt; and Marat Gatin, Head of the Russian Cultural Centres in Egypt, along with Rosatom’s distinguished business partners in Egypt.
During the ceremony, Murad Aslanov presented Rosatom’s cutting-edge global technologies and solutions, emphasizing the company’s commitment to sustainable development and international cooperation. Looking ahead, Aslanov highlighted the significance of Rosatom’s continued construction of the El Dabaa Nuclear Power Plant (NPP) in Egypt. He expressed confidence that the collaboration would yield remarkable results, contributing to Egypt’s sustainable development goals and overall progress.
