Report Alleges Large-Scale Theft of Egyptian Aid Meant for Gaza Civilians

Cairo, Egypt – July 29, 2025 – A recent investigative report has raised serious concerns over the fate of humanitarian aid sent by Egypt to the Gaza Strip, alleging that a significant portion of the assistance has been stolen or diverted before reaching the intended civilian recipients.

The report, compiled by independent regional monitors and humanitarian organizations, details logistical breakdowns, lack of oversight, and possible interference by local actors, leading to the disappearance of large volumes of food, medicine, and essential supplies. The findings have sparked calls for greater transparency and stronger monitoring mechanisms in the delivery of cross-border aid.

According to the report, convoys coordinated through the Rafah crossing faced disruptions not only from security-related delays but also from what one observer described as “systematic misappropriation” once inside Gaza. Some aid reportedly ended up on black markets or in the hands of groups not affiliated with relief operations.

Egypt, which has served as a crucial lifeline for Gaza during repeated escalations, has not yet issued an official response to the allegations. However, sources within the Egyptian Red Crescent say internal reviews are underway and that the integrity of aid efforts remains a top priority.

“Egypt’s commitment to the Palestinian people is unwavering,” one official involved in aid coordination told [News Outlet] under condition of anonymity. “If there are actors undermining this effort, they must be exposed and held accountable.”

Humanitarian experts warn that the diversion of aid not only deepens the suffering of civilians but also undermines trust in international relief efforts. The United Nations has also acknowledged growing concerns over accountability and is reportedly coordinating with Egyptian authorities to assess the situation.

The alleged theft comes at a time when Gaza is facing one of its worst humanitarian crises in decades, with shortages of clean water, medical supplies, and electricity continuing to devastate communities. For many observers, the report underscores the urgent need for international cooperation in ensuring aid reaches those who need it most without obstruction, interference, or exploitation.
