During the 12th LNG Producer-Consumer Conference held in Tokyo, Qatar’s Minister of State for Energy Affairs, Saad Al-Kaabi, asserted that gas will continue to be a secure energy source until 2050. The conference saw the participation of officials from various countries, including the U.S., South Korea, and the European Union.
While highlighting the importance of a realistic approach, Al-Kaabi emphasized the need for low-carbon energy solutions. He criticized the proponents of rapid transition towards low-carbon energy and advocated for a balanced approach that considers both human prosperity and environmental protection.
Al-Kaabi proudly stated that Qatar supplies the world with the cleanest hydrocarbon energy. Additionally, he projected that by 2029, Doha will be the source of 40 percent of the global markets’ liquid natural gas.
Qatar’s significant role in the energy landscape is underscored by its estimated 858 trillion cubic feet of proven gas reserves, ranking it third in the world. Furthermore, the country accounts for approximately 12 percent of the world’s total natural gas reserves, cementing its position as a major player in the global energy sector.
