President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi returned to Egypt on Monday after participating in the Extraordinary Arab-Islamic Summit held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The summit addressed key regional issues, with a focus on the ongoing Israeli-Palestinian conflict and the broader geopolitical situation in the Middle East.
In his address at the summit, President Sisi emphasized the precarious state of the Middle East and its potential global implications, stating, “The future of the Middle East and the world is at a crossroads,” and warned that the ongoing aggression against Palestinian and Lebanese territories threatens to destabilize the entire international order.
The Egyptian president strongly condemned the “systematic killing of civilians in Gaza” and reaffirmed Egypt’s firm stance against efforts to undermine the Palestinian Cause. He stressed, “We will not accept the displacement of Palestinian civilians or attempts to turn Gaza into an unlivable zone under any circumstances.”
Sisi also reiterated that the path to peace and regional stability lies in the establishment of an independent Palestinian state, with borders based on the June 4, 1967 lines and East Jerusalem as its capital.
During the summit, President Sisi held bilateral meetings with several key leaders. He met with Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati, where he reaffirmed Egypt’s support for Lebanon and its people. The two leaders also discussed the ongoing regional crisis, including the situation in Gaza.
Additionally, President Sisi held talks with King Abdullah II of Jordan. The two leaders expressed their shared concerns about the forced displacement of Palestinians and reiterated their commitment to preserving the Palestinian Cause.
The summit culminated in the adoption of a joint draft resolution, which called for global support to freeze Israel’s membership in the United Nations, a move intended to exert pressure on Israel in response to its actions in the Palestinian territories.
President Sisi’s participation in the summit underscores Egypt’s central role in advocating for Palestinian rights and regional stability, and its continued diplomatic efforts to address the Middle East’s most pressing conflicts.
