Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi met with King Harald V of Norway on Monday during his official visit to Norway, which is part of his European tour. The meeting marked a significant step in strengthening relations between the two countries.
According to Egyptian presidency spokesman Ambassador Mohamed El-Shennawy, King Harald V welcomed President Sisi and expressed Norway’s appreciation for Egypt’s pivotal role in both Africa and the Middle East. The Norwegian king also praised the recent momentum in bilateral relations between the two nations.
In his remarks, President Sisi thanked King Harald V for the warm reception and highlighted the significance of the visit, noting that it is the first time an Egyptian president has visited Norway since the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries in 1936. He also praised the development of bilateral ties in recent years.
During the meeting, the two leaders discussed ways to further enhance their cooperation, including coordinating positions on international issues of mutual interest. They also reviewed the current situation in the Middle East and the ongoing efforts by Egypt to restore stability to the region.
Additionally, President Sisi extended an invitation to King Harald V to visit Egypt for the grand opening of the Grand Egyptian Museum.
