Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi reaffirmed Egypt’s commitment to expanding green energy production and welcomed collaboration with Norway on the development of green hydrogen using renewable energy sources. The statement was made during a meeting with Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre in Oslo on Monday, as part of President Sisi’s official visit to Norway.
According to Presidential spokesman Mohamed El-Shennawy, both leaders praised the positive developments in their bilateral relations, particularly in economic and trade sectors. They stressed the importance of further enhancing economic ties, boosting trade exchange, and promoting investment cooperation between Cairo and Oslo. The two sides also emphasized strengthening partnerships between the business sectors and chambers of commerce and industry.
The meeting also focused on regional and international issues, with both leaders agreeing on the importance of maintaining regular political consultations and coordinating positions on key matters. These include supporting the Palestinian cause and efforts to restore stability in the Middle East.
A significant outcome of the meeting was the signing of a memorandum of understanding to establish a formal mechanism for political consultation between the two countries, aiming to foster closer diplomatic ties and cooperation.
