President Sisi Continues European Tour with Visit to Norwegian Parliament

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi arrived at the Norwegian Parliament on Monday, where he was warmly received by the Speaker of the Norwegian Parliament, Masud Gharahkhani. During his visit, President Sisi is expected to meet with the Speaker, sign the Parliament’s guestbook, and hold discussions with the Chairman and members of the Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee.

This visit is part of President Sisi’s ongoing European tour, which began with a visit to Denmark earlier this week. Upon his arrival in Oslo on Sunday, President Sisi was greeted by Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre. The two leaders held talks and later witnessed the signing of several bilateral agreements aimed at strengthening cooperation between Egypt and Norway.

As part of his visit, President Sisi also participated in an informal tea reception hosted by Prime Minister Støre, a gesture reflecting Norway’s appreciation for Egypt and its President. This reception marked the beginning of Sisi’s official visit to Norway.

President Sisi further met with King Harald V of Norway, inviting the monarch to visit Egypt for the grand opening of the Grand Egyptian Museum. The meeting focused on enhancing bilateral relations, coordinating positions on international issues, and reviewing the situation in the Middle East, with an emphasis on Egypt’s efforts to restore stability in the region.

King Harald V expressed his country’s admiration for Egypt’s pivotal role in Africa and the Middle East, highlighting the positive momentum in relations between the two nations. In return, President Sisi thanked King Harald V for the warm reception and praised the development of their bilateral relations, noting the significance of his visit as the first by an Egyptian president to Norway since the establishment of diplomatic ties in 1936.
