In a recent announcement on Wednesday, Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi introduced a comprehensive set of measures aimed at alleviating economic pressures. The key components of the package include:
- A 50% increase in the minimum wage, reaching EGP6,000 per month.
- Wage hikes for public servants and employees in economic entities, ranging from EGP1,000 to EGP1,200, depending on their grade.
- A 10% bonus for individuals covered by the Civil Service Law and a 15% bonus for those not covered, with a minimum of EGP150, totaling EGP11 billion.
- An additional bonus, starting from EGP500 for grade 6 employees and increasing by EGP50 for each subsequent grade, up to EGP900 for the excellent grade. The total cost of this measure is EGP37.5 billion.
- The allocation of EGP6 billion for the hiring of 120,000 civil servants.
