On Thursday, GQ Middle East honored 24-year-old Palestinian photographer Motaz Azaiza as the Man of the Year 2023. Azaiza has been fervently documenting the Israeli regime’s actions in Gaza since the commencement of hostilities on October 7.
Despite facing numerous death threats and calls to cease his work and leave Gaza, Azaiza remains resolute, asserting, “I’ll never leave my lovely strip behind.”
GQ Middle East, in an Instagram post, acknowledged Azaiza and his peers on the ground in Gaza, emphasizing the transformative power of ordinary individuals, both men and women, in effecting the change they wish to witness. They expressed prayers for Azaiza’s safety as he fearlessly continues to “speak truth to power.”
