Palestinian Diplomat Accuses Israel of Genocide and Ethnic Cleansing, Praises Egypt’s Ceasefire Efforts

Ambassador Muhannad al Aklouk, the Permanent Representative of Palestine to the Arab League, has asserted that Egypt’s efforts to achieve a ceasefire in Gaza are crucial for protecting the Palestinian cause. In an interview with AlQahera News on Saturday, Aklouk criticized the international community’s silence on what he describes as ongoing genocide in Palestine.

Aklouk described the current situation in Gaza as a continuation of a long-standing crime of ethnic cleansing, stating that the crisis has persisted for over eight decades. He condemned Israel’s military actions, claiming that 90,000 tons of explosives have been dropped on Gaza, resulting in the near-total destruction of life in the region.

He reported that more than 150,000 Palestinians have been killed, wounded, or are missing under the rubble. Additionally, he accused Israel of using starvation as a weapon of war, which has resulted in the deaths of over 50 Palestinians. Aklouk also highlighted the plight of 21,000 Palestinian prisoners who he says are being tortured in Israeli detention facilities.

On the diplomatic front, Aklouk outlined Palestine’s efforts through the Arab League, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), the African Union, and the United Nations to expose what he described as Israel’s malicious objectives. He noted that Palestine is awaiting a ruling from the International Criminal Court, which has issued arrest warrants for Israeli officials. He emphasized that achieving Palestinian independence remains a central goal for the Arab League.

The statement reflects ongoing tensions and international concerns surrounding the conflict in Gaza.
