Over 12,000 Egyptian Pilgrims Receive Medical Care During Hajj

The Egyptian Ministry of Health and Population has been actively providing medical care to pilgrims during this year’s Hajj. The ministry has set up 24 clinics across Mecca and Medina as part of its Egyptian Medical Mission, delivering medical examinations and treatments to a total of 12,741 pilgrims.

Medical Support and Hospital Transfers

Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, the ministry’s spokesperson, reported that 871 patients required further care and were transferred to Saudi hospitals. Specifically, 834 patients were treated in Mecca, and 37 in Medina. Out of these, only 24 remain hospitalized, as the majority have been discharged after receiving necessary medical treatments.

Leadership and Collaboration

Amr Rashid, the leader of the Egyptian Ambulance Authority and the medical delegation, assured that no contagious diseases have been reported among the Egyptian pilgrims. He emphasized the continuous collaboration with Saudi health authorities, including patient visits to Al Nour and Saudi German Hospitals in Mecca for additional health checks. Rashid also noted that medical teams are conducting regular visits to pilgrim accommodations, ensuring ongoing health monitoring and support.

Educational Initiatives and Health Seminars

To further ensure the well-being of the pilgrims, medical teams have organized 1,289 awareness seminars at hotels in Mecca and Medina, reaching 35,391 individuals. These educational sessions cover crucial topics such as environmental engagement, room cleanliness, food safety, hand hygiene, personal care, and the importance of not sharing personal items. These seminars aim to educate pilgrims on disease prevention measures and promote healthy practices throughout their stay.

Ongoing Commitment

The Egyptian medical mission continues to prioritize the health and safety of its pilgrims, providing comprehensive medical care and educational support. With ongoing collaboration between Egyptian and Saudi health authorities, the mission ensures that all pilgrims receive the necessary care and guidance, contributing to a safe and healthy Hajj experience.
