Norwegian Prime Minister Hosts President Sisi for Historic Visit and Bilateral Talks

Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre welcomed Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi in Oslo on Monday, as the Egyptian leader arrived for the second leg of his European tour, following a visit to Denmark. The two leaders held a session of talks and witnessed the signing of several bilateral agreements aimed at strengthening ties between the two nations.

Upon his arrival in Oslo on Sunday, President Sisi participated in an informal tea reception hosted by Prime Minister Støre, marking the beginning of his visit. This gesture was particularly noteworthy, as it is uncommon for the Norwegian Prime Minister to organize an event for a foreign official over the weekend. The reception, held at Støre’s residence, was a warm welcome for President Sisi and reflected Norway’s appreciation for Egypt and its President.

During the reception, Prime Minister Støre expressed pride in the historic visit, which is the first by an Egyptian president to Norway, and conveyed deep respect for President Sisi. In turn, President Sisi thanked the Norwegian Prime Minister for the kind gesture, interpreting it as a positive sign for the future of bilateral relations between the two nations.

The talks between President Sisi and Prime Minister Støre focused on enhancing cooperation in various fields, including political, economic, and trade relations. The signing of bilateral agreements further solidified the growing partnership between Egypt and Norway.
