According to a report by Bloomberg on Monday, researchers at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) have determined that human workers are still more cost-effective than artificial intelligence (AI) in the majority of job roles. The MIT study focused on assessing the cost attractiveness of automating various tasks in the United States, including roles like teachers and property appraisers.
The study revealed that only 23% of workers could be effectively replaced by AI. This finding was attributed to the high expense associated with AI-assisted visual recognition, making human workers more economically viable in most cases.
Despite ongoing efforts by tech giants like Microsoft and Alphabet to integrate AI into their operations and potentially reduce the workforce, the MIT study suggests that, for now, human workers continue to offer a more cost-effective solution across various job sectors.
