LG Electronics Egypt has announced a major expansion of its local manufacturing operations, reaffirming its long-term commitment to Egypt’s industrial development and localization strategy. The move aims to increase the proportion of locally sourced components in the company’s product lines while strengthening Egypt’s position as a regional hub for electronics production.
According to a statement released by the company, the expansion will cover several key product categories—including televisions, air conditioners, and home appliances—with a focus on improving production capacity and creating more job opportunities for Egyptian workers.
“This investment reflects LG’s confidence in Egypt’s industrial ecosystem,” said Don Kwack, Managing Director of LG Electronics Egypt. “We are deepening our local supply chain integration to enhance competitiveness, support local industries, and contribute to Egypt’s economic growth.”
The initiative aligns with the Egyptian government’s national plan to promote local manufacturing and reduce dependence on imports by encouraging multinational companies to adopt higher localization rates. By sourcing more components domestically, LG aims to strengthen local suppliers, transfer technology, and build capacity within Egypt’s growing manufacturing sector.
Minister of Trade and Industry, Ahmed Samir, welcomed the company’s move, describing it as a model for industrial partnerships between Egypt and global technology leaders.
“LG’s expansion supports our strategy to position Egypt as a key production base for Africa and the Middle East,” Samir said. “It will help boost exports, create skilled jobs, and expand the country’s manufacturing value chain.”
Industry experts note that the initiative could also make LG products more affordable in the local market, as higher local content often leads to lower production costs and improved pricing competitiveness.
LG Electronics, which has operated in Egypt for over two decades, continues to play a significant role in the country’s technology and industrial landscape. With this latest expansion, the company says it aims to reach higher export volumes in 2026 and further strengthen Egypt’s role in global electronics manufacturing.
