Iraq announced on Thursday that it has deployed a fuel ship to Egypt with the aim of mitigating shortages in Gaza amid the ongoing Israeli blockade.
Zedan Khalaf, the adviser to the prime minister for humanitarian affairs, stated, “An Iraqi tanker carrying a cargo of ten million litres of fuel has left Basra port for the Suez Canal as aid to the Palestinians in Gaza, and the government of Iraq is planning to send further aid cargoes in the future.”
The move comes as a response to the critical situation in Gaza, where approximately 20,000 Palestinian civilians have lost their lives due to Israeli bombardment since October 7.
