Eva Pharma, an Egyptian pharmaceutical company, has entered into a partnership agreement with Swiss drugmaker Roche.
The agreement focuses on the localization of medicine production for patients undergoing organ transplants, with a specific emphasis on manufacturing in Egypt and exporting to emerging markets across Africa. This collaboration aims to enhance accessibility to crucial medications and improve healthcare outcomes for transplant recipients in the region.
The MoU was signed on Thursday in the second edition of the Africa Health Excon 2023, in the presence of Baha El-Din Zidan, head of Unified Procurement Authority (UPA), and Tamer Issam, head of the Egyptian Drug Authority (EDA).
The project aims to promote technology transfer and develop technical knowledge of immunosuppressant drugs that are needed to improve patients’ lives undergoing organ transplants through a competitive model in terms of cost and flexibility.
The pharmaceutical industry is a key pillar of the Egyptian government’s economic reform plan in terms of its contribution to GDP and job creation, and supports the achievement of the country’s sustainable development strategy and Vision 2030.
