Europe Shows Resistance to Chinese Electric Vehicles Despite Popularity

When Laima Springe-Janssen set out to replace her French-made gasoline SUV with an electric vehicle, she explored options from Volvo and Nissan.

While the Volvo models she desired would have stretched her budget, the Nissan choices didn’t quite have the desired “wow factor.” Ultimately, the Copenhagen, Denmark resident opted for a compact SUV manufactured by China’s BYD.

“I absolutely adore this car,” Springe-Janssen declared. Priced at around $50,000, the Atto 3 SUV came equipped with a plethora of features, including a 360-degree dash camera, two years of complimentary charging, and an additional set of winter tires.

Her husband is so impressed that he’s contemplating the purchase of another BYD to replace their second vehicle, which is from Volkswagen’s Skoda brand.
