Egypt’s Prime Minister Madbouly Explores Schneider Electric’s Proposal for 1,000 Smart Homes

Egypt’s Prime Minister, Moustafa Madbouly, has examined a proposed initiative by the French company Schneider Electric to construct 1,000 smart homes, as stated by the Egyptian cabinet on Tuesday.

In a meeting with Sebastian Reyes, Schneider’s president for Northeast Africa and the Arab Levant, Madbouly discussed the initiative, which aligns with the directives of Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, according to the cabinet statement.

Currently, Schneider Electric manufactures various components at its factory in Badr Industrial City. The company is contemplating the possibility of locally producing smart home technology components within the Suez Canal Economic Zone, the statement noted. These smart homes aim to significantly decrease carbon emissions by relying on renewable energy sources and ensuring uninterrupted electricity. The design emphasizes energy efficiency and prioritizes data security for administrative, service, and residential units.

Prime Minister Madbouly has requested a feasibility study for Schneider Electric’s initiative. The study is expected to encompass the cost, percentage of local components, and the initiative’s potential impact on reducing electricity bills and carbon emissions.
