The Egyptian Space Agency (EGSA) and Tanmia Petroleum Company have entered into a strategic partnership to improve safety protocols and operational efficiency in the country’s energy sector. Through a newly signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), the two organizations will collaborate to leverage space applications, focusing on developing advanced monitoring and early warning systems for the petroleum and mineral resources industries.
The agreement was signed at EGSA’s headquarters in Cairo by Sherif Sedky, CEO of EGSA, and Mostafa Amer, chairperson and managing director of Tanmia Petroleum. The partnership aims to integrate satellite data and remote sensing technologies to enhance the monitoring of critical infrastructure and boost safety measures across oil, gas, and mineral facilities.
EGSA, Egypt’s leading space authority specializing in satellite data analysis, is positioned to support key sectors through the use of space technology. Tanmia Petroleum, a key player in providing aerial technical support to the petroleum industry, is set to benefit from EGSA’s expertise in monitoring production lines and infrastructure for potential hazards.
Key components of the MoU include the use of remote sensing technology to detect leaks in production lines, implementing smart systems for the early detection of theft attempts, and monitoring mineral resource facilities for potential unauthorized activities. These efforts aim to ensure the safety, security, and sustainability of Egypt’s energy resources.
Sherif Sedky highlighted the importance of the partnership in advancing Egypt’s economic development. “By utilizing satellite data, we will significantly improve the monitoring of critical infrastructure and help mitigate risks while ensuring the highest safety standards,” Sedky stated.
Mostafa Amer also expressed Tanmia Petroleum’s enthusiasm for the collaboration, underscoring that the initiative would enhance the safety, operational efficiency, and security of Egypt’s energy sector. He noted that this collaboration would play a crucial role in safeguarding the nation’s petroleum and mineral resources.
