Egyptian Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly held a productive meeting with a group of tourism investors on Tuesday at the Egyptian cabinet headquarters in New Alamein. The discussions primarily focused on strategies to increase the number of hotel rooms in the country, with the aim of supporting and expanding the tourism sector.
During the meeting, Prime Minister Madbouly affirmed the government’s unwavering commitment to bolstering the tourism industry and emphasized their dedication to providing the necessary services to attract more visitors to Egypt. He expressed eagerness to hear innovative ideas from investors, acknowledging their crucial role in driving tourism growth.
Investors presented various proposals to address the shortage of hotel rooms. These suggestions included the conversion of vacant government buildings into hotels, collaborations with the government to construct hotels on state-owned land, and investments in tourism development in the Red Sea region. They also raised concerns regarding the need for increased financing and the necessity of streamlining fees imposed by government agencies.
Prime Minister Madbouly expressed confidence in the country’s ability to achieve its target of attracting 30 million tourists by 2025, highlighting the government’s commitment to creating an enabling environment for tourism and fostering collaboration with investors to maximize the sector’s potential.
The meeting witnessed the presence of key officials, including Ahmed Eissa, the Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, Ahmed El Wasif, the President of the Egyptian Federation of Tourist Chambers, and other notable representatives from the tourism sector.
Egypt’s ongoing efforts to expand its hotel accommodation capacity demonstrate the government’s determination to capitalize on the country’s rich tourism potential and enhance its attractiveness as a global destination. By fostering partnerships with investors and addressing industry challenges, Egypt aims to unlock new opportunities for growth and establish itself as a premier tourism hub in the region.
