On Wednesday, Arab Contractors (AC), a major player in Egypt’s construction sector, announced the signing of a significant joint venture (JV) agreement with Angolan firm Mercons- Engenharia E Construção Civil, S.A. Company.
The newly established JV, named Arab Contractors – Luanda, is poised to specialize in the execution of diverse construction projects within Angola. This move aligns seamlessly with the Egyptian Ministry of Housing’s strategic vision to foster collaborative ties with African nations, while simultaneously creating expansive opportunities for Egyptian contracting enterprises across the continent.
The inception of this collaborative entity is a direct outcome of a fruitful visit by Angolan Minister of Public Works, Urban Planning, and Housing, Carlos Alberto dos Santos, to Cairo, following an invitation from his Egyptian counterpart, Assem El Gazzar. AC Chairman Ahmed El Assar highlighted that this constructive interaction was followed by reciprocal engagements, including a visit by Arab Contractors leadership to Angola. Numerous deliberative sessions took place, engaging Angolan governmental bodies and local contracting firms.
Anticipating further developments, Egyptian Minister El Gazzar is scheduled to embark on a forthcoming visit to Angola next month. During this visit, a pivotal cooperation protocol is anticipated to be inked with the Angolan Ministry of Public Works, Urban Planning, and Housing, thus solidifying the progressive strides set in motion during Minister Carlos’ visit to Cairo. Stay tuned for more insights as this collaboration between Arab Contractors and Mercons shapes the construction landscape in Angola and showcases the growing synergy between African nations.
