Egypt to Establish New Logistic Zone near El Salloum City

Marsa Matrouh, August 17, 2023: Egypt has unveiled plans to create a new logistics zone in the vicinity of El Salloum, a city located in the Marsa Matrouh governorate on the western border with Libya. This strategic initiative aims to bolster economic growth and infrastructure development in the region, as reported by Asharq Business on Thursday.

President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, while engaging with the residents of Marsa Matrouh, disclosed the upcoming projects slated for the area. These initiatives encompass various aspects, including the establishment of ports and the introduction of a high-speed train network that will extend to El Salloum city.

Central to the plans is the expansion of a desalination plant within the city. This enhancement aims to elevate the plant’s capacity, ensuring a more abundant supply of water to the local inhabitants. The majority of the residents, largely comprising low-income Bedouin communities, stand to benefit from this improved access to essential resources.

The move underscores Egypt’s commitment to fostering socio-economic progress and addressing the needs of its diverse population. As the nation embarks on these ambitious projects, it seeks to pave the way for a more prosperous and connected future for both the local residents and the broader region.
