Egypt’s Ministry of Health and Population, under the leadership of Minister Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, plans to construct 15 hospitals by 2024, at a cost of 19.5 billion Egyptian pounds.
This initiative is part of the first phase of the universal health insurance system, which aims to enhance healthcare services in various governorates.
Minister Abdel Ghaffar shared this update during the Africa Health ExCon conference, highlighting additional achievements such as the upgrade of ambulance facilities and the improvement of primary health care units.
The ministry has also allocated 20 billion pounds for state-funded treatment. The growing population of Egypt, which has reached 105 million people, remains a significant challenge for the health sector.
The Africa Health ExCon conference, endorsed by the Egyptian Authority for Unified Procurement, Medical Supply, and the Management of Medical Technology (UPA), commenced on June 6 and will continue until June 9, featuring participation from over 315 international speakers representing 70 countries.
