Cairo — Egypt has officially opened enrollment for the upcoming academic year, a move that marks the beginning of another cycle in the country’s ambitious efforts to strengthen its education sector.
According to the Ministry of Education, registration across public and private schools has commenced nationwide, with emphasis on digital enrollment platforms aimed at easing the process for parents and guardians. The government has also announced that this year’s academic calendar will incorporate updated curricula, focusing on science, technology, and digital literacy to align with global standards.
Education Minister Reda Hegazy noted that the reforms are part of Egypt’s broader Vision 2030 agenda, designed to build a knowledge-based economy and equip students with modern skills. “We are not just opening schools; we are opening doors to innovation and competitiveness,” Hegazy stated during a press briefing in Cairo.
Parents have welcomed the enrollment drive, though some expressed concerns about rising school fees and overcrowding in urban areas. The ministry assured families that measures are being taken to ensure adequate learning environments and equitable access, particularly in rural communities.
With more than 25 million students expected to enroll, this academic year is set to be one of the largest in Egypt’s history, reflecting the country’s rapidly growing youth population and the government’s ongoing prioritization of education.
