The new licenses, valid for 15 years, not only permit the operation of 5G services but also renew existing licenses for previous generations. Minister of Communications and Information Technology Amr Talaat highlighted the transformative potential of 5G technology for Egypt’s economy and its impact on digital transformation. The 5G network, which promises speeds up to 20 Gbps—substantially faster than 4G’s maximum of about 1 Gbps—aims to enhance telecommunications infrastructure and stimulate competition and investment in the sector.
This initiative aligns with the Egyptian government’s goal to provide advanced telecommunications services to meet the diverse needs of individuals and businesses.
