Egypt Firmly Rejects Deployment of Forces to Gaza Strip

Egypt has firmly rejected any proposals for deploying its forces into the Gaza Strip, according to a high-level source cited by Al-Qahera News on Sunday. The source emphasized that arrangements within the Gaza Strip following the ongoing Israeli military operation are exclusively a Palestinian concern.

The source also clarified Egypt’s position on the Rafah crossing, stating that Egypt has not approved any plans to transfer the crossing with Gaza or to construct a new crossing near the Karm Abu Salem crossing. Additionally, Egypt has not engaged in any discussions regarding Israeli supervision of the Rafah crossing

Egypt remains steadfast in its demand for a full withdrawal of the Israeli army from the Palestinian side of the Rafah crossing. The source highlighted Egypt’s longstanding opposition to the Israeli takeover of the Rafah crossing since May 7, and its refusal to coordinate with Israeli forces for aid delivery through this critical entry point.

In response to the ongoing situation, Egypt began redirecting aid trucks carrying essential supplies to the Karm Abu Salem crossing between Israel and Gaza in late May. This move followed an agreement between Cairo and Washington to ensure the continued delivery of humanitarian aid.

Egypt has also dismissed reports suggesting plans to deploy Egyptian troops to Gaza as part of a broader coalition in the post-war period. In early June, a high-level source refuted claims that Egypt had approved the dispatch of forces to Gaza as part of an alleged joint Arab task force under the United Nations for managing the crossings after the conflict.

Egypt’s position on the Gaza Strip remains clear: it opposes any military deployment of its forces and rejects external control or supervision of key crossings. The nation continues to advocate for a full Israeli withdrawal from the Palestinian side of the Rafah crossing and remains committed to facilitating humanitarian aid through agreed-upon channels.
