Egypt’s Foreign Minister, Badr Abdelatty, has engaged in phone discussions with his counterparts from the UAE, Jordan, Iraq, and Algeria to address the ongoing crisis in Syria. The talks, which involved UAE’s Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed, Jordan’s Ayman Safadi, Iraq’s Fuad Hussein, and Algeria’s Ahmed Attaf, centered on crafting a coordinated regional response to the situation in Syria.
During the conversations, Abdelatty reaffirmed Egypt’s steadfast support for Syria’s sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity. He underscored the necessity for a unified regional approach, stressing that a stable Syria can only be achieved through a Syrian-led, inclusive political process, free from foreign interference.
The Egyptian Foreign Minister also called for broad-based support for Syria as it navigates its transitional phase, highlighting the need to end the suffering of the Syrian people and reintegrate the country into both the regional and global communities. He emphasized that these efforts are crucial for securing lasting peace and stability in the Middle East.
