Cairo, Egypt — Egypt is taking significant steps to localize pump manufacturing through a partnership with Turkey’s Turbosan, as announced during a recent visit by Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities Sherif El-Sherbiny to Turbosan’s factory in Turkey. The discussions, held with Turbosan Chairperson Sadat Oglu, focused on transferring technology and establishing a pump manufacturing facility in Egypt to support water and sewage projects.
El-Sherbiny highlighted the Egyptian government’s commitment to enhancing partnerships with specialized Turkish manufacturers, aiming to boost local industry. Oglu reiterated Turbosan’s goal of increasing industrial and trade cooperation with Egypt and outlined plans for substantial expansion in the region through collaborations with local firms.
During the visit, Turbosan showcased its extensive history, global branches, and production capabilities, emphasizing its advanced technologies and modern engineering practices. The company manufactures a variety of pumps used in essential infrastructure, including drinking water stations and sewage treatment plants.
El-Sherbiny and Turbosan representatives discussed leveraging local manufacturing expertise and addressing the unique needs of the Egyptian market. The Minister noted that the government is implementing measures to support investment and enhance local manufacturing, including updating technical specifications and standardizing equipment for upcoming projects.
Deputy Minister of Housing Sayed Ismail confirmed that the ministry is actively working to promote the localization of electromechanical equipment manufacturing in Egypt, aligning with national infrastructure goals.
Turbosan, a leader in pump production for agricultural, drinking water, and sewage applications, has been operating in Turkey for nearly 50 years and has a history of successful projects in Egypt spanning over 25 years. The company is particularly recognized for its submersible sewage pumps, essential for rural sewage projects under the Decent Life initiative, as well as high-pressure pumps for desalination efforts.
