Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty held a phone call with his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov, where they discussed the intensification of political consultations at the ministerial level. This follows the directives of Presidents Abdel Fattah El Sisi and Vladimir Putin after their meeting at the BRICS Summit in Kazan.
The call focused on enhancing bilateral cooperation, with updates provided on key joint projects such as the Russian Industrial Zone in the Suez Canal Economic Zone and the Dabaa nuclear power plant in Egypt. Both ministers expressed commitment to further advancing these initiatives as part of the growing Egypt-Russia partnership.
In addition, the two diplomats addressed the ongoing Syrian crisis, reiterating their mutual support for Syria’s sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity. They emphasized the importance of a Syrian-led, inclusive political process aimed at restoring stability and safeguarding the interests of the Syrian people.
Abdelatty also highlighted Egypt’s ongoing efforts to broker a lasting ceasefire in the region, with a focus on ensuring the delivery of humanitarian aid to alleviate the suffering of Palestinians. The discussions underscored the shared objectives of both nations in promoting peace and stability in the Middle East.
