Egypt and Jordan Stand with Lebanon Amid Israeli Offensive

October 8, 2024 – Cairo, Egypt

The foreign ministers of Egypt and Jordan, Badr Abdelatty and Ayman Safadi, expressed their countries’ solidarity with Lebanon amid escalating Israeli attacks, calling for an immediate end to the aggression. At a joint press conference in Cairo, Safadi condemned Israel’s ongoing strikes on Lebanon, Gaza, and the occupied West Bank, denouncing the killing of Lebanese citizens and the bombing of Beirut.

Safadi highlighted the growing threat of a broader regional war, accusing Israel of being unaccountable due to support from its Western allies. Abdelatty echoed this sentiment, stating that Israel operates “above the law” and continues to violate international norms with impunity.

The Israeli offensive on Lebanon, which began on September 23, has killed at least 1,150 people and displaced over a million. Meanwhile, Israel’s simultaneous attacks on Gaza have resulted in nearly 42,000 Palestinian deaths since October 2023, exacerbating the region’s humanitarian crisis.
