Egypt and Abu Dhabi Ports Group finalized an agreement on Wednesday for the operational management of a multipurpose terminal at Egypt’s Safaga Port, as per an announcement from the Egyptian Cabinet.
Transport Minister Kamel al-Wazir highlighted that the design of the new Safaga 2 terminal is geared to handle one million containers annually and accommodate seven million metric tonnes of goods.
Additionally, the ministry has earmarked 3.6 billion Egyptian pounds ($116.7 million) for the development of Safaga Port, emphasizing its commitment to enhancing the port’s capabilities.
The project, spanning 810,000 square meters, will include a dock measuring 1,100 meters in length and 17 meters in depth, according to the statement.
