Driver of Galala University Bus Crash Referred to Criminal Court

Cairo, Egypt – October 17, 2024: The Public Prosecutor, Mohamed Shawqi, has referred the driver of a Galala University bus, involved in a tragic accident that occurred two days ago on Galala Road, to criminal court. The crash resulted in the deaths of 12 students and left 29 others injured.

In a statement released Wednesday, the prosecution announced that the driver is being held provisionally as the trial awaits. The charges against him include driving under the influence of morphine, which has been linked to the fatal accident and injuries sustained by the students.

The case has drawn significant attention as the community mourns the loss of young lives and seeks accountability for the incident.
