Disney’s Chief Diversity Officer and Senior Vice President, Latondra Newton, Steps Down from Position

According to a report by Reuters on Tuesday, Latondra Newton, Disney’s Chief Diversity Officer, and Senior Vice President, is resigning from her position after six years. An internal communication from Disney’s Chief Human Resources Officer, Sonia Coleman, states that Julie Merges, the Senior Vice President of Talent Acquisition, will assume leadership of Newton’s direct reports.

Newton has been at the helm of Disney’s diversity and inclusion initiatives since 2017, working collaboratively with various teams to create entertainment that resonates with a global audience and fosters an inclusive and welcoming workplace for all, as stated in her profile on the company’s website.

As she departs from Disney, Newton is considering the possibility of joining the corporate board of another company while also focusing on her creative endeavors within her own company.
