On Monday, the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) and the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) entered into a significant agreement aimed at enhancing cooperation in various key areas.
The agreement focuses on fostering collaboration between the two central banks in the realms of fintech development and advancing financial inclusion efforts.
During the Seamless North Africa 2023 event held in Cairo, Rami Aboulnaga, the deputy governor of CBE, and Aishah Ahmad, the deputy governor for Financial System Stability Directorate of CBN, formalized the partnership by signing the deal.
The event, themed “The Gateway to Fintech in the Middle East and Africa,” provided an opportune platform for the two central banks to reinforce their commitment to working together and exploring opportunities for mutual growth and development in the fintech sector.
The agreement marks a pivotal step in strengthening ties between Egypt and Nigeria in the financial domain, and it is expected to pave the way for collaborative initiatives that will drive fintech innovation and bolster financial inclusion efforts in both nations.
