Cairo, Egypt – July 29, 2025 – Egypt’s Foreign Minister, Badr Abdelatty, has firmly reiterated Cairo’s longstanding commitment to the Palestinian cause, stating unequivocally that Egypt will never accept any attempts to liquidate or undermine Palestinian national rights.
Speaking during a high-level meeting in Cairo with Palestinian Prime Minister Mohammad Mustafa, Abdelatty reaffirmed Egypt’s position that a just and comprehensive resolution must remain grounded in the establishment of an independent Palestinian state along the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
“The Palestinian cause is not up for compromise,” Abdelatty said. “Egypt will stand against any regional or international efforts to erase, marginalize, or dilute the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people.”
The meeting comes amid heightened diplomatic activity in the region, as Cairo intensifies efforts to broker a ceasefire and secure humanitarian access in Gaza. Abdelatty emphasized that Egypt’s mediation efforts are rooted in justice and international legitimacy—not temporary solutions that ignore the root causes of the conflict.
Palestinian Prime Minister Mustafa expressed appreciation for Egypt’s consistent stance, stating that Cairo’s political and humanitarian role remains pivotal, especially in the face of growing international pressure to sideline core Palestinian demands in favor of economic pacification.
“Egypt has always been a cornerstone of Arab support,” Mustafa noted. “Their refusal to accept any project that aims to dissolve our national aspirations reinforces our resilience.”
Observers see Abdelatty’s comments as a direct response to proposals circulating among certain regional and international actors that prioritize reconstruction and normalization over statehood and sovereignty.
With tensions in the Occupied Territories persisting and humanitarian conditions deteriorating in Gaza, Egypt’s message comes at a critical time. It signals that, despite evolving geopolitical dynamics, Cairo remains committed to the principles that have long underpinned Arab solidarity with Palestine.
