Cairo Cautions Israel Over Gaza Offensive, Calls for Urgent Global Intervention

Egypt has issued a stern warning over Israel’s ongoing military assault on Gaza City, cautioning that the escalation could trigger grave humanitarian and regional consequences if not immediately contained.

In a statement released by the Egyptian Foreign Ministry, Cairo condemned the intensifying Israeli strikes, stressing that the assault threatens to deepen the already dire humanitarian crisis in the besieged enclave. Egypt urged the international community, particularly the United Nations and major global powers, to take swift and decisive action to halt the violence and protect civilians.

“Continued military escalation in Gaza will have dangerous repercussions for regional stability,” the ministry said, reiterating Egypt’s long-standing role as a mediator in ceasefire negotiations between Israel and Palestinian factions.

Humanitarian organizations report that Gaza City has borne the brunt of recent strikes, with mounting civilian casualties and severe damage to infrastructure, including hospitals, schools, and residential areas. Egypt has emphasized the urgency of opening humanitarian corridors to ensure the delivery of medical supplies, food, and aid to affected civilians.

Diplomatic analysts note that Egypt’s warning underscores fears that the conflict could spill over into broader regional instability, complicating fragile peace efforts across the Middle East. Cairo reaffirmed its commitment to facilitating dialogue but insisted that global powers must assume greater responsibility in de-escalating the crisis.

The call reflects Egypt’s dual role as both a neighbor to Gaza and a key regional mediator, balancing its historic peace treaty with Israel while maintaining support for Palestinian rights.
