Amazon Egypt Teams Up with Shark Tank to Boost Local Entrepreneurs

CAIRO—In an exciting development for Egyptian entrepreneurs, Amazon Egypt has announced a collaboration with the popular business reality show Shark Tank. This partnership aims to empower local startups showcased on the show, offering them vital resources to expand their online presence and reach a wider audience.

As the third season of Shark Tank kicks off, entrepreneurs featured on the program will be welcomed as selling partners on Amazon.eg, enhancing the platform’s offerings for customers. This initiative aligns with Amazon’s commitment to supporting small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) and complements Egypt’s Vision 2030 strategy for a “Digital Egypt.”

“Egyptian entrepreneurs have shown remarkable capabilities across various sectors,” stated Omar Elsahy, General Manager of Amazon Egypt. “Our collaboration with Shark Tank is a significant step in nurturing these local businesses, helping them scale and innovate. By leveraging Amazon’s technology and fulfillment networks, we aim to support the growth of the Egyptian economy and local communities.”

Featured entrepreneurs will have the chance to present their products on the “El Masry Yiksab” storefront on Amazon.eg, a dedicated section highlighting Egyptian-made goods. They will also benefit from Amazon’s Fulfillment by Amazon (FBA) service, which simplifies logistics, storage, and delivery, enabling faster service and eligibility for Amazon Prime.

“This partnership is a game-changer for the startups on Shark Tank,” said Amr Mansi, Co-founder of Innovative Media Productions, which produces the show. “It’s more than just funding; it provides entrepreneurs with access to world-class logistics and e-commerce infrastructure, empowering them to optimize operations and reach a broader customer base.”

Mirame Khamis, owner of Asfoura—a beloved children’s book brand and Amazon.eg selling partner—shared her success story as a Shark Tank participant. “After years in corporate roles, I pursued my passion for children’s literature. Launching on Amazon right before our Shark Tank episode aired allowed us to reach families across Egypt, putting our stories in children’s hands.”

The collaboration also emphasizes the mission of Innovative Media Productions to foster entrepreneurship in Egypt. Ahmed Luxor, CEO and Co-founder, highlighted that this partnership not only aids growth within Egypt but equips startups to compete on a regional and global scale.

Ahmed El-Sobky, Head of Amazon Egypt Marketplace, expressed excitement about welcoming these entrepreneurs into the Amazon ecosystem. “We’re eager to support them with our robust infrastructure and wide customer base. Their unique products will enrich the shopping experience while bolstering the local economy.”

With over 60% of global sales on Amazon coming from independent sellers, this initiative promises to provide Egyptian entrepreneurs with the tools, insights, and resources needed to thrive in the competitive e-commerce landscape. As Amazon continues to support SMBs, the future looks bright for innovative local businesses in Egypt.
