Agiba Petroleum Co Unveils New Oil Field Discoveries in Western Desert

Agiba Petroleum Co, affiliated with the Ministry of Petroleum, has reported the discovery of two new oil fields, Iris-001X and Nada Sharq-002X, in the Western Desert, as per Al Arabiya Business on Thursday.

The evaluation process is currently underway to ascertain the reserves and anticipated production rates of both oil and natural gas from these discoveries, according to an official statement provided to Al Arabiya Business.

The discoveries were made possible through the application of 3D seismic reflection technology, which aids in tracking geological structures and calculating oil quantities. This technology has been instrumental in previous oil discoveries in Merged Meleiha in the Western Desert. The data collected in 2010 was processed between 2016 and 2019.

Additionally, seismic reflection technology has resulted in the discoveries of Merged Meleiha Rose 001X and Meleiha Garden 001X in the Meleiha area in the last two years. These projects exhibited initial production rates of 761 barrels per day and approximately 14.9 million cubic feet of gas per day, the official added.
