Egypt’s Foreign Minister Sounds Alarm on Palestinian Heritage at UN Cultural Forum

Egypt’s Foreign Minister has raised concerns over growing threats to Palestinian cultural heritage, using the platform of the United Nations General Assembly’s cultural forum to call for urgent international attention.

Speaking before global delegates, the minister stressed that cultural identity is under siege in Palestinian territories, where historical sites and traditions risk erasure amid ongoing conflict. He warned that the systematic undermining of heritage is not only an attack on Palestinian history but also a blow to the shared human legacy of the world.

The Egyptian envoy urged the UN and its member states to strengthen frameworks that protect cultural sites in conflict zones, highlighting the importance of preserving heritage as a pillar of national identity and resilience.

He emphasized that protecting Palestinian heritage is inseparable from upholding international law and human rights, and called for a collective responsibility to prevent cultural extinction.

The statement adds to Egypt’s consistent role in advocating for Palestinian rights on the global stage, especially at a time when the Middle East faces heightened tensions and escalating humanitarian concerns.
