The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) has reaffirmed its commitment to clean energy development in North Africa by backing a 200-megawatt wind farm in Ras Ghareb, Egypt.
The project, which will be located on the Gulf of Suez, is expected to bolster Egypt’s renewable energy capacity while reducing reliance on fossil fuels. It aligns with the government’s ambitious plan to source 42% of its electricity from renewables by 2035.
The wind farm will not only enhance energy security but also create jobs during construction and operations, contributing to sustainable economic growth.
Officials say the project reflects Egypt’s growing role as a hub for green energy investments in the Middle East and Africa, with the Ras Ghareb facility poised to become one of the country’s flagship wind projects.
