Riyadh and Cairo Unite in Strong Rebuke of Israeli Settlement Push, Gaza Escalation

Saudi Arabia and Egypt have issued strong condemnations of Israel’s ongoing settlement expansion in the occupied West Bank and the escalating military operations in Gaza, warning that such actions threaten regional stability and undermine efforts toward peace.

In separate statements, the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs described the expansion of settlements as a “flagrant violation of international law” and a direct obstacle to the two-state solution. Both governments emphasized that Israel’s continued policies in Palestinian territories contravene United Nations resolutions and deepen the humanitarian crisis on the ground.

Cairo further warned that the latest escalation in Gaza could ignite a wider conflict, calling on the international community to act swiftly to de-escalate tensions. Saudi Arabia echoed this concern, urging Israel to halt its military operations and settlement projects immediately, while reaffirming its support for the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital.

Analysts note that the rare joint timing of Riyadh and Cairo’s condemnations underscores growing regional frustration over the protracted conflict, especially as humanitarian conditions in Gaza deteriorate and diplomatic solutions remain stalled.

Both nations reiterated their commitment to working with Arab and international partners to revive negotiations, stressing that only a comprehensive and just resolution to the Palestinian question can secure lasting peace in the region
