An Egyptian activist has once again locked the gates of the Egyptian Embassy in the Netherlands, staging a dramatic act of protest in solidarity with the people of Gaza. The move, carried out in the early hours of Friday, drew immediate attention from local authorities and pro-Palestinian supporters.
Witnesses say the activist, whose identity remains withheld for security reasons, chained and padlocked the main entrance, unfurling banners that condemned Israel’s ongoing military actions in Gaza and criticized Arab governments for what he called “silence in the face of injustice.”
This is not the first time the activist has taken such action similar protests in recent months have targeted both Egyptian and international institutions, aiming to amplify calls for an immediate ceasefire and humanitarian aid access.
Local police arrived at the scene to remove the chains and restore access to the embassy, but not before images and videos of the protest went viral on social media. Supporters praised the act as “courageous civil disobedience,” while critics questioned the legality and effectiveness of the method.
In a statement posted online, the activist vowed to continue non-violent disruptions until “Arab leaders match their words with action” and the siege on Gaza is lifted. The protest comes amid growing global demonstrations demanding an end to the conflict, which has left thousands dead and displaced.
Dutch authorities confirmed that no arrests were made, but investigations into the incident are ongoing.
