Tens of Thousands Flock to Egypt’s Parks and Zoos During Eid Al-Adha Festivities

Egypt’s public gardens and zoos drew a crowd of 38,446 visitors during the Eid Al-Adha holiday, reflecting a vibrant return to communal celebrations and outdoor leisure after years of pandemic-related restrictions.

The Ministry of Agriculture and Land Reclamation released the figures on Monday, noting a significant turnout across the country’s green spaces and zoological attractions, including the iconic Giza Zoo and Orman Botanical Garden. Families, tourists, and children formed the majority of the attendees, eager to enjoy nature, entertainment, and the festive atmosphere.

Dr. Mona Mehrez, spokesperson for the ministry, said that authorities had taken extensive measures to prepare for the holiday rush, ensuring heightened security, sanitation, and veterinary services at all venues.

“Teams were deployed across parks and zoos to monitor animal welfare, assist visitors, and maintain cleanliness throughout the celebrations,” Mehrez stated. “We’re proud to have hosted tens of thousands of guests in a safe, welcoming environment.”

The Giza Zoo alone accounted for over 17,000 of the total visitors, offering special programs such as animal feedings and educational tours. Elsewhere, regional parks reported full capacities as families took advantage of the extended holiday break.

The surge in attendance marks a notable revival in Egypt’s domestic tourism and recreational sectors, with officials hinting at further investment in park infrastructure and visitor services in anticipation of growing demand for public leisure spaces.

The Eid turnout not only underscores the cultural significance of public gatherings during national holidays but also highlights Egyptians’ enduring affinity for green spaces amid Cairo’s urban sprawl.
