“100 Days of Health”: A Monumental Effort in Public Healthcare, Delivering Over 151 Million Services

In a remarkable display of commitment to public health, Egypt’s “100 Days of Health” initiative has exceeded expectations, delivering a staggering 151.8 million medical services in just 96 days. Launched by Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly on July 31, 2024, as part of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi’s broader vision for human development, the initiative continues to transform the landscape of healthcare in the country.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Health, Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, proudly announced the milestone on November 5, 2024, revealing that the campaign has been instrumental in providing accessible, life-changing healthcare services to millions across Egypt. By the evening of November 4, the “100 Days of Health” initiative had already made its mark with an astounding 151,769,147 services—a testament to the dedication and tireless efforts of healthcare workers, volunteers, and the ministry’s commitment to improving lives.

A Day in the Life of “100 Days of Health”

On the final day of reporting, the initiative delivered 1,797,918 services, underscoring its scale and reach. These services were spread across various sectors, ensuring a holistic approach to public health:

  • Basic Care and Family Planning: 562,417 services
  • Therapeutic Care: 411,504 services
  • Presidential Public Health Initiatives: 95,858 services
  • Preventive Medicine: 49,656 services
  • Medical Centers and Hospitals: 92,267 services from the Medical Centers Secretariat and 40,387 from the General Authority for Hospitals and Educational Institutes
  • Mental Health Support: 184,914 individuals received vital mental health services
  • Public Health Insurance: 232,500 services were provided across hospitals and clinics
  • Ambulance Services: 4,235 emergency cases handled across the nation

Moreover, the Specialized Medical Councils were crucial in providing 7,965 treatment decisions funded by the state, while the waiting list reduction program conducted 1,934 surgeries. Even with the overwhelming volume of services, hospitals under the umbrella of the medical institution network continued to operate seamlessly, delivering 43,801 services.

Spreading Health Awareness Nationwide

Beyond direct medical care, the “100 Days of Health” initiative placed a significant emphasis on health awareness. Community outreach teams worked diligently to engage citizens, reaching 70,480 people through public seminars, educational events, and outreach in public spaces, such as clubs and shopping centers across the nation. These teams not only provided information about available services but also educated citizens on preventive healthcare practices, helping to build a culture of wellness and proactive health management.
